Local SEO is broken. Most businesses (and agencies) skip straight to the sexy stuff - building links and chasing high-volume keywords - while their foundational house is on fire.

When LLMs and search engines crawl the web, they look for consistency. If your name, address, and phone number (NAP) don’t match across the internet, you lose trust.

Here is the 5-R Framework I use to fix local SEO from the ground up.

The 5 Phases of Local SEO

1. Research (The Baseline)

You cannot fix what you haven’t measured. This phase is about gathering hard data. Run a comprehensive audit of current keyword rankings, Google Business Profile (GBP) health, and NAP consistency across the top 50 local directories. Identify exactly where the bleeding is happening.

2. Rebuild (The Foundation)

Fix the bleeding. Claim and fully optimize the GBP. Standardize the NAP across all primary data aggregators. Ensure the website’s technical foundation (schema markup, mobile speed, clear service areas) is rock solid.

3. Revise (The Content)

Update existing content to match search intent. Create dedicated, highly-optimized service pages and location pages. Ensure every page answers the specific questions local customers are asking.

4. Reach (The Authority)

Now you build authority. Generate consistent, high-quality local reviews. Build localized backlinks through community involvement, sponsorships, and niche directories.

5. Results (The Measurement)

Track the metrics that actually matter: phone calls, map pack views, and lead conversions. Adjust the strategy based on the data.

Stop trying to build a skyscraper on a swamp. Research and Rebuild first. Reach later.
